Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a history of supraventricular tachycardia with episodes where my heart rate has been as high as 274 bpm. I had an ablation to take care of the problem about 7 years ago, and for the most part it has worked, but I still have problems while working out. My heart rate is anywhere between 165-190 even at a very slow pace while using a treadmill or eliptical. Is this dangerous, and can it affect weight loss?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
After going through your medical details I understand your concern for your health and I would like to tell you that supraventricular tachycardia can occur even after getting radio frequency ablation done. As RFA was done 7 years back then you may require cardiac check up again .
Try to keep your exercise at low pace if symptoms are aggravating during increased activity. It's recommended for you to consult your treating Cardiologist and get a proper evaluation done.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
