What Causes Cough, On And Off Headache And Sore Throat?
hi, I have a nonproductive dry infrequent cough for aprox. 3 weeks with no chest pain no fever not really any cold symptoms no SOB I have had a headache on and off for past week and once in a while my throat starts to feel a little sore but then it goes away I do have a history of hydial hernia and reflux
Hiatus hernia with reflux is mostly the cause of throat symptoms that are not due to viral or bacterial infection. Hence the treatment of the primary cause is the mainstay of management in such a case: I would advise you the following in such a situation: Consult your Doctor for clinical evaluation and insist for detailed history and investigations like upper GI Endoscopy and Pharyngo-laryngoscopy. Get started on a PPI like Pantoprazole,. Domperidone as motility regulator to avoid reflux. Antacid when on empty stomach. Avoid foods and fluids that increase your problems. Small frequent meals. Take second opinion of Gastroenterologist for further evaluation and additional treatment if needed or if asked by an ENT Surgeon.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
