Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son, age 52, recently had a pacemaker inserted. It has been 2 mths. and he now has a cough. He did have a fever, and felt he needed an antibiotic, just 2 wks. ago, however his cough persists. Is there any chance it is related to the pacer. Should we be concerned?

What Causes Cough Post A Pacemaker Insertion?
Hello, It is unrelated to the pacemaker. Most probably it will be an allergic cough. As a first line management you can take antihistamines like cetirizine for symptomatic relief. Expectorant cough syrups can also be tried. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated. Detailed evaluation is required including an X-ray. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
