What Causes Cough With Excess White Mucus And Chills?

I have had cough for 1 week or so, with just a little mucus that was yellow. Suddenly Sunday morning I began coughing more deeply; the mucus is white and tastes like bleach. It s disgusting & now I have chills moving through me. I have had soups, water, teas and no medications I do not use any bleach in our apt. What is causing this & what can I do to clear it? A per your complain you have problem of more cough and chill that may be because of infection or allergy of respiratory tract.

Viral infection also cause more coughing .
Throat infection may cause this type of symptoms.

Do a warm water with salt gargling three times a day.

Steam inhalation also helpful in this condition.
Drink a more water per day..

Sputum culture test for further diagnosis.
Proper antibiotics course under doctor's suggestion.

Consult a physician for further diagnosis.
