What Causes Recurrent Sever Body Chills, Chest Congestion And Cough?
Severe chills...blowing and coughing up mucus (greenish yellow in color)....which causes gas....taken antibiotics and it clears up and I feel great but it comes back and just hits me suddenly. when it happens I just feel totally exhausted and the chills are to the bone
It looks like you have exposed yourself to cold. Visit ER, get physically examined. Since the chills keep recurring, you need to get CBC along with Blood tests for MP & Widal, Urinalysis & X-Ray chest & X-Ray (PNS) done. It can be due to Flu, malaria or typhoid. Sometimes, it can also be due to Strep throat or Pharyngitis, Sinus or Allergy.
In the meantime, you can take Non-sedating antihistamines (Levocetirizine), Antibiotics Like Doxycycline. You can take Acetaminophen when required for fever or pain. Take medications under the Consultant. Your treatment will depend upon your the severity of the pathology detected.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
