Hi I am a 64 yo female who quit smoking 7 months ago. One of the biggest reasons I quit was because I was coughing alot. However, since quitting, I still cough incessantly in the morning bringing up greyish colored mucus. I clear my throat constantly throughout the day. I have also found that I have been choking on ridiculous things lately, like a sip of water or a small bite of food. Sometimes I just choke on my own saliva. I feel well, no weight loss, exercise regularly. I have had problems with sinus drainage also, especially when going outside if it is the slightest bit chilly or windy. I see my internist on a regular basis as well as my dentist. Do I need to be concerned about these symptoms? On a side note, in 2005 I had sinus surgery because I had a severe sinus infection that would not go away with antibiotics. The surgery was to drain the sinuses which the doctor said was to drain the pus out.
