What Causes Crusty Spot On Left Side Of Throat?

Hi, I have noticed a rough or somewhat crusty spot on the left side of my throat just before it goes down into my trachea or esophagus. I have scraped it with my fingernail. It has a foul septic odor to it. Much like those small white things that sometimes appear in one's throat. I have no discomfort other than the feeling that it is there.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

From your description of crust, it looks like infection which can be bacterial or fungal. Please consult your nearby ENT specialist. You might need antibiotics which ENT specialist will suggest after examining you. Keep your oral hygiene good. Brush your teeth in the morning and at bedtime.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nehal Mehta
