What Causes Crying Without Tears In Infants?

My 10 Month old son has never cried tears but is not dehydrated and his eyes are not dry or red. I took him to an eye specialist and he said it had nothing to do with his tear ducts but it could have something to do with his glands. They might be itchy because he rubs them alot but i always just thought that was a sign of being tired. I really need reassurance that this is normal and that there isn t anything wrong. Thank you.

some children don't she'd tears unless they are in extreme condition or pain .
the most common cause of having no tears when crying but having a wet eye is nasolacrimal duct obstruction in which your ophthalmologist excluded , and it's treated with saline drops along with massage near the nasal bone from the inside .
if there is no tears at all or marked decrease in tears it's called alacrima, which can be isolated ( isolated congenital alacrima ) , which is the bilateral abscence or being very small tear glands , which can be diagnosed by orbital CT scan or by a neostigmin test which is done at ophthalmology clinic , but this is very uncommon
I hope this helps
