Hallow Dear,
Dark brown bleeding after
threatened abortion is usually not a good sign. In fact dark brown bleeding any time during
pregnancy suggests the possibility of non-viable baby. Brown bleeding is always stale collected blood. Since you were having threatened abortion and now you are having brown bleeding, the possibility of
Missed abortion has to be considered strongly, unless and until proved otherwise.
Missed abortion is a condition wherein the baby in the
uterus is non-viable and still not getting aborted.
The best way to confirm the diagnosis is to go for
ultrasonography. It will reveal whether the baby is viable or not. If it is still viable, please start taking
Progesterone pills which will help stabilization of the pregnancy.
However, if the pregnancy is non-viable, please get the pregnancy terminated without delay. Delay in missed abortion carries risks of complications like clotting disorders (DIC) leading to threatening bleeding, infection,
kidney failure, etc.. Therefore please report to the Obstetrician ASAP.
If missed abortion, you may have to undergo few special investigations like
Bleeding time, Clotting time,
Platelet Count,
Prothrombin time and Fibrinogen Degradation Product estimation to screen for DIC.
I hope you get the required message.
