What Causes Darkening And Open Wounds On Skin Where Fluid Oozes And Treatment For The Same?
hi, my husband experience severe itchiness in the ankle, back & now abdominal area & on those site he developed lichenification of skin where there is darkening & open spots(like wounds) where fluid comes out. We treated it w/ hydrocortisone but the skin changes was not resolve, some of the itchiness did. Why is that & what is the treatment?
I would keep a possibility of Infected Eczematous Dermatitis.
In such a case i would normally prescribe an oral antibiotic (penicillin group) for a week.
I would have prescribed a potent steroid+antibiotic combination cream twice daily for the dermatitis and lichenfication. Hydrocortisone is the mildest steroid and i don't think it would affect the thick lichenified skin.
An oral antihistamine like cetrizine once daily will help in controlling the itch associated with it.
take care regards
