i am 32 years old women .when i checked my cholestrol level last week i understood that my hdl level is 14.5..my ldl level is 103.i am having 5.5 inch and 63 kg..don't have any other problems.dr told me blood count is also less.i want to know why hdl level is decreasing..is it the sign of any diseases.
hello,I have gone through your query. Thanks for using HCM. Basically it has been observed that low HDL is found commonly amongst asians,HDL is protectice cholesterol against heart attack.so your level of 14.5 is very low.It is basically genetically determined level and if it is so low you may take following measures. 1.you should take daily almonds and walnuts which is known to increase HDL. 2.You must exercise daily and walk for 30 to 40 minutes non stop. 3.There is medicine called Nicotinic acid which is known to raise HDL,though it does increase number but no long term protection has been found in various trials My best wishes Dr.Rajehs Teli,MD
