General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear patient! I understood your concerns. Thank you for asking.

Delay of menstruations can be caused by many factors. Stress, Physical activity, nutrition and diet, medications, other medical issues etc. Being sexually active does not affect your menstrual cycle if you have protected sex. But of course pregnancy is one of the major causes of missing periods. You don't mentioned how days late are your menstruations but if you had unprotected sexual contact i'd recommend you to repeat the test after a week, and i hope you will have a more reliable result.

Take care and all the best for you!
Dr Eriol.
