What Causes Delay In Periods After Taking Acyclovir For Chicken Pox?

Hi Doc, I m a 22 year old woman, recently have a chicken pox last sept. 5- sept 21 2015. I ve had my menstruation last sept. 22 and it ended up when chicken pox blisters began. My doctor prescribe me to take acyclovir 3 times a day for 7 days. Until now OCT. 5 I didn t have my menstruation yet, Is this normal after chicken pox? or is this a side effect of the medicine?

Thanks for writing in.

1. Chicken pox is a condition caused by a varicella virus.

2. It is a stressful condition and can cause alterations in your female hormones.

3. Acyclovir will not cause any change in hormones to delay your periods.

4. It is likely that the periods are delayed because of chicken pox which cause slight amount of stress in you.

5. Please have good meals and keep your mind relaxed and your periods will get back to normal. Please do not worry.
