What Causes Delayed Menstruation After Taking Myfol?

My last periods date was 8-6-2016 and i consulted to doctor at 4-6-2016 , she suggested me to take myfol for the month so,on the 4th of july the month was completed but i thought i should continue it till periods date but on 8 of july the perids date came but periods didn t come,so should I continue to take this medicine or i should leave it?????

Thank you for your question. Myfol is folic acid from the man made form of folate. Folate is a B-vitamin naturally found in some foods. It is needed to form healthy cells, especially red blood cells. They are used to treat or prevent low folate levels. Low folate levels can lead to certain types of anemia. Conditions that can cause low folate levels include poor diet, pregnancy, alcoholism, liver disease, certain stomach/intestinal problems, kidney dialysis, among others. It is use to help the women with reproductive for periconception to decreases the occurrence and recurrence of neural tube defects (NTDs). It is recommended for all women planning pregnancy or capable of becoming pregnant.

Folic acid usually has very few side effects. If your doctor has directed you to use this product, remember that he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effect. Many people using this product do not have serious side effects.

There is no evident that this product cause delayed menstruation. So if your period is delayed please check your beta hCG to make sure that you are not pregnant. Go to see your doctor if you are concerning for a further evaluation.
