What Causes Delayed Menstruation Cycles Even After Taking Meprate Tablets?
ts been more than 60days now and I still didn t get my periods. I consulted a gynec and diagnosed with PCOS and asked to take meprate tablet for 5 days (1 tablet a day). And its been 11days now after taking meprate for 5days, I still didn t get my periods. I did a HPT and its negative.
The HPT would have ruled out pregnancy. These tests detect hcg hormone which is detectable from day 11 to 14.
PCOS causes delayed or irregular periods. Since your periods did not start with the 5 day course of meprate, then you may need to take it for an additional 5 days. It can be used for up to 10 days so your doctor may add the additional 5 days or restart the course for the 10 days to see if this helps.
Bleeding should occur 3 to 7 days after stopping the 10 day course.
If this does not help , there are other hormonal medications such as norethisterone, that maybe helpful.
If you are not trying to conceive, the use of oral contraceptives, would help regularize your period. These are used in PCOS.
I hope this helps
