Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For the last 2 months I have received my menstrual cycle every 2 weeks which is very abnormal for me. Ever since my first cycle it has come on a schedule and never missed a beat except for my pregnancies. What could be some possible reasons for this to be occuring?
Hello and welcome to HCM, A delay in menstruation can be due to pregnancy. Thus, you need to first rule out pregnancy by taking up an urine pregnancy test 9UPT). UPT usually comes out to be positive 10-14 days after conception. On the other hand, delay in periods is common in healthy menstruating females. You can wait for couple of days for the menstruation to resume. If the periods do not resume within few days, you may consult your gynecologist to look for the cause of delayed periods. Stress, anemia, hormonal imbalance are common cause of delayed periods. Clinical assessment and investigations will be required to know the cause and to managment the cause of delayed periods.
