What Causes Delayed Periods And Spotting After Having Intercourse?

I am 27 years old ever since i have started my periods they have been normal about 3-4 days in length. i thought i was pregnant and took a home pregnancy test it came up negative 3 days later i started my period it went from the 5th to the 9th. here it is 5 days later and after intercourse i had some bleeding or spotting. is this normal is can there be something wrong

Hi,
I understand your concern.
It seems you have a normal & regular menstrual cycle.
- Usually pregnancy test is done after 8 days delay in periods. Have you done it before that with a fear of being pregnant? If so the test has to be l be negetive( because it was done too early ).. & in that case the bleeding after intercourse might be from early pregnancy ( threatened abortion.) You need to repeat pregnancy test & consult a gynecologist in such a case.
- Post coital bleeding in absence of pregnancy can be seen in.. Cervical erosion/ cervical polyp/ cervical inflammation & infection./ malignancy .These things need to be diagnosed & treated with consultation of a gynecologist.
