What Causes Dementia While On Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride?
My 73 year old wife has what seems to abnormally progressing signs of dementia. She does not recognize or admit that there is a problem. What should I (we) do? She has in the past taken prescription sleep aids, but now takes 6 to 8 nonprescription diphenhydramine HCL 25 mg per day. Could that be causing the problem?

Hi as in your case she is taking the diphenhydramine as the side effect is concerened it causes nervousness,dizziness,ataxia but not causing dementia as the patient age is concerned the strongest factor to develop dementia is age.
