Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Depression And Abdominal Discomfort After Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
I had a gastric sleeve back in April 2015. I kept to the diet. But my body slowly began to get bone-y and very unpleasant. I felt like I m being trapped in my own skin and I can feel my pelvic bone, collar bone, leg, neck, ribs and arm bones. I ve been experiencing depression, anxiety, abdominal discomfort constantly, back pain and I think I m very constipated. My question I guess would be is it possible that I might be dying? That my body is pretty much just giving up?
The gastric sleeve is meant for low food intake with loss of body weight and control BMI below 25 or so as per the standard guidelines of surgery. Looking bones on surface of body which were previously dumped under piles of fat is actually a good prognostic sign of positive outcome of surgery, but if you are concerned much of that with stress , I would recommend to discuss the issue in details with your doc for further guidelines to stop weight loss. So far as abdomen discomfort is concerned, intake of probiotics will help for sure to best extent.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
