What Causes Depression And Anxiety Along With Shortness Of Breath?
I am 78 and have no chronic conditions. Lately I have been depressed and anxious. I sometimes have a pain in heart or right side and a little shortness of breath. I am not obese and am active with swimming a couple times a week. Should I take the pain in the heart area seriously?
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.
It should be always taken seriously especially in your age although anxiety is the main cause of chest discomfort. However, as I said, you should do at least heart xrays and ECG and this will rule out possible acute ischemic incident. For future you should consider anxiolytic therapy. I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time. Kindly regards. Wish you a good health. DR. Ivan Rommstein
