Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a 3 yr old grandson who lives 50/50 with my son and then child with his mother. About almost two months, grandson is not willing to go to bed at appropriate time (between 8:30-9:00). My son says he talks, then cries and then wants to sleep with his father, then wants to play. Help. Thank you. Nana Phyllis. .
It can be difficult to hear a child crying and upset but if the carer can be firm, it is thought that behavior change (for an issue like this) can occur within a week.
If you have established the time he is to go to bed, then this should be maintained. When he gets out, he should, unless there is a the real reason otherwise, be put straight back to bed and this should be repeated until he understands that this is it, it is time for sleep.
Firm but gently back into bed each time.
I hope this helps
