What Causes Diabetes Insipidus?

I have diabetes insipidous. I believe a blow to my forehead with a swing caused the disorder. Tell me what part do the kidneys play? I m now 66 and this happened when I was five. Last year I had 4 UTIs, which resulted to a kidney stone. It was shock waved out of my system! This year Jan 2 Up to 2017 I had no history of UTIs. I notice blood in my urine in December and went through the process and was diagnosed with another had a kidney stone !

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Diabetes insipidus (DI) is a condition characterized by large amounts of dilute urine and increased thirst caused due to a lack of the hormone vasopressin (antidiuretic hormone). However, the symptoms what you are mentioning now could be due to presence of infection in the kidneys along with associated presence of kidney stones. It may not be related to diabetes insipidus.
Hence, you need to be treated for removal of kidney stones and management of infection related to kidneys.

Kindly consult Urologist for clinical evaluation and appropriate management. Hope the information provided helps.

All the best.
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran. S.
