Hello,
This is Dr. Papaqako answering your question.
Thank you for posting your question to HCM.
Yes, it is common for children to get
diaper rash when they start eating solid foods or are introduced to a new food. Any new food changes the composition of the stool. A new food might increase the frequency of your child's bowel movements as well. I would not call it an
allergy though, because in that case it would have affected more spread areas of the skin.
Other causes of diaper rash is wetness,
fungal infection, using of antibiotics, and the sensitivity of the skin from the rubbing of the diaper against his skin.
Some advices I may give are:
--The best defense against diaper rash is a dry bottom, so change your child's diaper frequently or as soon as possible after it becomes wet or soiled.
--Clean your child's genital area thoroughly with each diaper change.
--Pat his skin dry — never rub it.
--To coat his bottom with a thin layer of protective ointment after each diaper change may help also.
Hope this helps,
Let me know if you have any other question.
Take care.
