Hello
Lose motions and nausea and other GI symptoms are very common seen in 10%of people on metformin.
Although metformin is one of the best antidiabetic drugs available till date lose motion may cause dehydration and precipitate hyperosmolar state or lactic acidosis in case kidney function rise due to dehydration. I would suggest.
1.stop metformin
2.start piogkitazone it has almost same properties as metformin although through different mechanism of action
3.Dont forget plenty of fluids

Hope you are satisfied with answer
