Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Diarrhea And Nausea While On Brilinta?
I am presently on Brilinta due to a heart attack on April 10th, since on this medicine I am experiencing diarhea, nausea, some mornings wake up with stuffy nose when I blow it, it has blood in with mucus. I also experience shortness of breath when just sitting or laying down.I know it is still early after the event but how much longer are these symptoms going to last
The Brilinta is an anti-platelet class of drug exerting its actions via the P2Y12 ADP receptor. The nausea and diarrhea are side effects of the drug. The bleeding with mucus in nose suggest dose titration requirement as there should be altered Prothombin time via its use. You must report to office of your doctor for further management in this regard.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel, General & Family Physician
