What Causes Diarrhea, Cramps And Bleeding After Taking Cytotec?

Hi doctor well my storie is that took cytotec alone to preform. An abortion at home I was about 5 weeks pregnet the problem is I took the pills on 29 of last month I had major diarreha and I had major cramps and what I thought to be contraction I had bleeding after 4 hours but the next day only slight bleeding is been about 3 weeks and I took pregnacy test but came back positive my lower stomache is hard and I'm scared because I feel that the abortion was a failure what should I do

Hallow Dear,

I have gone through your history and was surprised.

For termination of pregnancy, Mifepristone and Misoprostol combination is given. These medicines are to be taken only by Obstetrician's prescription.

You have taken only Misoprostol and it seems it has failed. Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain are some of the side effects of cytotec. However, I am more worried because even after 3 weeks, your pregnancy test is positive; and during those three weeks you were bleeding. It clearly shows that though the pregnancy is disturbed, the baby is still viable and the pregnancy has not been terminated.

If after cytotec the termination does not take place, it is not advisable to continue with the pregnancy since after this medicine, the chances of abnormalities in baby are very high. So now please do not waste time, go to the Obstetrician and get the pregnancy terminated. Now it will have to be terminated mostly by surgical evacuation. More the delay, more the difficult is the surgical procedure.
