Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 44 years old and I weigh 145 pounds. I am having diarrhea, also a headache and a nasal drip. These diarrhea are severe and this has happened over and over. My doctor said it is stress, but I am wondering if it is a sinus infection, For I have severe headaches.
It looks that the problems of pain in abdomen with diarrhea, sinus infection and headache may or may not be related.
This can be known only by the following: - Clinical evaluation, examination and investigations by respective Specialists viz Gastroenterologist and an ENT Specialist - Send the stool for tests for three consecutive days - Tests of blood, particularly for thyroid, liver and kidney functions - CT scan of abdomen - Colonoscopy if needed
All these will lead to the diagnosis of the cause and give a proper plan of management. If all the investigations are normal then only this can be said to be from IBS that is irritable bowel syndrome or function.
For the nasal drip and headache, an opinion of an ENT Surgeon, CT scan of PNS can help for proper diagnosis and management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant
