What Causes Difficulty In Drawing Blood From Arm?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...I had a blood test yesterday and the nurses found it very difficult to get blood, they tried 3 times in my arm and eventually they went in my hand but had to do it twice. Why is that?

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

There is no some specific cause of it and some people simply have smaller and thinner arm veins which does not indicate any pathological issue so you should not be concerned. Only if there are pathologic blood tests and coagulation disorders with thrombosis in veins, then it may be sign of something more specific and pathological. Otherwise, you simply have small veins and in future it may be more difficult to draw blood so you should just warn nurese about this.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
