What Causes Difficulty In Straightening Arm After Workout?
I was doing a shoulder press during my workout and after I was done, I couldn t straighten my arms due to my triceps cramping. It took several minutes before I could resume my activities, but my upper body workout was done for the day. Susan (43 year old, out of shape, trying to do something to start exercising and get healthy)
Difficulty in straightening the arm is caused due to damage to the muscle fibers during exercise. Give it rest for a while and avoid doing strenuous exercises. Try gentle exercises. Take pain relieving medications, like naproxen, one stat after food. It will help to relieve soreness, inflammation, pain and discomfort.
Taking a muscle relaxant can also help. You are suggested to apply volini spray on the affected part for relieve. Gentle massage with pain relieving ointment is helpful. Apply ice or heat will help muscle relax. This symptom is commonly seen in beginners. Proper warmups and cool downs before and after exercises are important. Do workouts under the guidance of a physical trainer.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
