What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing While Having Bulimia Nervosa?
I have been bulimic for over 20 years. All of a sudden, I am having such a hard time swallowing. I have to keep clearing my throat all day long and feel like I have to cough as it feels like I have something stuck in my throat. I am scheduled for a barium swallow tomorrow but am concerned that it won t show what an endoscopy would. Will both tests show the same thing? Very scared.
Due to your chronic condition your esophagus has narrowed which is causing difficulty in swallowing. barium swallow would be ideal to rule our other underlying causes if any. Don't worry it would be a very easy procedure. After barium, if required endoscopy has to be done.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Suhas Chauhan
