What Causes Difficulty In Walking After An Ankle Injury?
2 weeks ago I went over my ankle and twisted it . I went for an X-ray to rule out fractures and was told that it was not broken. Now 2 weeks later I still am unable to walk on it without crutches and do not have full motion in moving the heel up and down. It s still very swollen and also over the last few days I ve noticed the bottom of my toes feel very weird and I can t actually wiggle the bottom the half of my toes. I ve been resting the whole of the last 2 weeks putting no pressure on my foot and keeping it elevated. Should I be worried there is damage to my ankle?
Hello Dear. Kindly consult an orthopedic surgeon and get re-evaluated. I feel there might be some fracture or crack which may have caused swelling and pain. You may need to undergo xray again and if required MRI. If there is no fracture the orthopedician may prescribe pain killers, ice pack therapy etc. If there is fracture the doctor may put POP cast or may even suggest you to undergo a surgery.
Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you. All the best With warm regards Dr Sanjay Kini
