What Causes Disappearing Rash Spots On The Body?

My 19 yr old son has small round rash spots that appear and disappear. They move from his forearms to sometimes is lower stomach or lower back and occasionally his legs a bit. They're a little red, but mainly just a raised rash about 1/2" or so in diameter. What could it be?
