Hello,
Since this is the old
injury and since we don't have an X-ray, it's difficult to give an exact answer but still based on the history which is short in nature, I understand that the patient had a
fracture and was treated for the same. Now, let me tell you that not all fractures will heal in the aligned form, sometimes it may be misaligned too. But body is a beautiful machine and it takes care of everything very nicely without even human expert intervention.
The discoloration of the skin, especially the ankle and legs lower region can be due to
varicose veins. that means there is not sufficient venous
drainage and also there is some physiological changes. A Doppler study can help us understand better.
You can request your friend to undergo Doppler study for the lower
limbs and also use lower limb stocking for legs, which can help the venous drainage to be better. Also a simple ankle toe movements and isometric exercises can help the patient to avoid frequent discoloration of the skin.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
