What Causes Discomfort When Swallowing Food Or Drink?

hi, I started taking the diane-35 contraceptive pill a month ago. In the first week i started my period, even though i took the pill every day, and since then it hasn't stopped! So I have had it for over three weeks and it continues to get heavier.

I am to the point where i have to change my tampon every 2 hours or less and I am also suffering severe cramping. Also, I have noticed a few blood clots that I would consider quite large.

This may be completely unrelated, but I'm also experiencing discomfort when swollowing food or drink. Even water feels like a brick when going down my food pipe.. would one have anything to do with the other?
