What Causes Disorderly Heartbeats?

Hello, I had a work up of my heart about a year ago... Everything came back normal on the 24 hour holter monitor besides showing some Pvc's and Pac's.. I am just wondering why every time I get stressed or anxious my heart will start skipping beats with every other beat this mostly happens during a panic attack or if I am suddenly scared by a loud noise or something.. Please help. This is an awful feeling!

Hello and thank you for using HCM. I carefully read your question and I understand your concern, but don't worry, its nothing serious.
It is quite known in cardiology that excessive stress might cause some rhythm issues.
In general this skipping beats are those premature ekstra-sistolik beats that was found in your holter a year ago. This are electrical impulses that generate in some part of the heart, ventricular or atrial part, different from normal sinus rhythm. They give you this sensation like anxiety, skipping beats bur ussuly they are quite normal when they happen in stressed occasions. In a stressful situation our body rises the Adrenalin, Cathecolamins These are substances that interact with heart muscle generating electrical impulses and cause this extra-systolic beats. It is an awful feeling but they are quite innocent, they don't cause any problem.
So, you just have to be relaxed and to low your stress. If you know that you have to experience a stressful situation you can take an anxious-lytic medication that prevents this attach, it lowers your stress and you might not feel this palpitations any more. But you have to talk with your doctor for this to prescript you something.
Hope I was helpful. Best regards.
