What Causes Dizziness Along With Headache And Unsteady Gait?

Experienced recently a case of dizziness and imbalance - unsteadiness when walking that was accompanied by a slight headache at night. My gait was unsteady. Was advised on the first and only occasion this occurred last September that is was likely due to some level of dehydration. Curious.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is possible that headache and dizziness can be due to dehydration. However, unsteady gait is suggestive of cerebellum pathology.

First you try to resolve dehydration by following advice:

- Acute correction can be done by drinking Oral rehydration solution (ORS - WHO approved which can be prepared by dissolving sachet in 1 liter of water).
- Drink as much as you can. Optional drinks like lemon plus salt water, coconut water etcetera.

If it do not resolves problem, then consult the neurophysician for proper examination related to dizziness and unsteady gate.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Hiren Hirpara
