Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Dizziness And Nausea Along With High Fever?
My 17 year daughter suddenly became dizzy and lightheaded with nausea and 102 fever yesterday afternoon. She felt faint. Extremely fatigued. Has a headache. Chills/Sweating. Fever on Advil stays at 102 and now complains of chest pressure, heaviness in chest, and some tingling in legs. Should I treat as virus or go to ER due to chest pressure? No congestion or coughing. Thanks.
Thanks for putting your query over here. The concerned person may also be having chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (a form of progressive lung disease)along with sleep apnea caused due to chronic smoking. What I recommend is get his lung function tests and chest X ray done to confirm the diagnosis. He will be then started with bronchodilator and anti inflammatory drugs under physician's supervision. Besides, options like weight control, cessation of alcohol and smoking may help if not yet taken care of.Yes,sleep apnea and COPD are risk factors for cardiovascular diseases. So it is necessary to take proper medications and assess cardiovascular risk profile by evaluating for blood lipids, blood glucose and blood pressure. Thanks and regards.
