What Causes Dizziness And Nausea When Diagnosed With Type 2 Diabetes?

Yes, my husband was just diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. And I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes a few years ago. We both just started a diabetes diet about 3 weeks ago. Cut out all white bread, starches, pasta, and staying on diet. Just mainly eating lean meat, poultry, vegetables and fruit, whole wheat or whole grain bread and an occasional sweet potato. We are doing great on diet. But, yesterday morning I woke up feeling very, very dizzy and nauseous. It got worse when I moved my head or tried to get up. I thought it might be low blood sugar, so I tried to eating something, but vomited everything I ate. What could cause this? I have been drinking plenty of fluids, so I don t think it is dehydration. Could you help please.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The dizziness sounds to be from low blood sugar as rightly predicted.

Nausea can be sort of gastric upset, food-induced or ketone bodies from high blood sugar also.

An immediate assistance with his physician is mandatory here.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Purva Patel, General & Family Physician
