What Causes Dizziness And Oral Dermatitis Inspite Of Being On Estradiol?

I have been taking 1 mg Estradiol for approximately 2 years and started having peri oral dermatitis about then. It recently got worse and was told by a dermatologist that it is now Rosacia. Recently have been getting dizzy and lightheaded. Could the Estradiol be causing this?

Hi,

Estradiol is a hormone that is commonly used in hormone replacement therapy to relieve symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes, vaginal dryness, and mood changes. While dizziness and lightheadedness are not common side effects of estradiol, it is possible that they could be related to your medication.

Perioral dermatitis and rosacea are both skin conditions that can be aggravated by hormonal changes. Estradiol can affect the skin by increasing collagen production, which can improve skin thickness and elasticity. However, it can also cause changes in sebum production and the immune system, leading to skin irritation and inflammation.

Dizziness and lightheadedness can have a variety of causes, including low blood pressure, dehydration, anxiety, and medication side effects. It is important to talk to your doctor about these symptoms to determine the underlying cause and appropriate treatment.

In addition to discussing your symptoms with your doctor, you may want to consider reviewing your estradiol dosage and regimen. Your doctor may suggest changing your dosage or switching to a different medication to see if your symptoms improve. You may also want to explore other treatments for perioral dermatitis and rosacea, such as topical creams, antibiotics, or dietary changes.

Overall, it is important to work with your doctor to address both your skin and neurological symptoms and to closely monitor any changes in your health while taking estradiol.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
