What Causes Dizziness And Trouble Focusing After Mild Head Injury?

Dear Doctor, On Monday this week I sustained a mild head injury resulting in 2 superficial cuts to the occipital area of my scull, these were glued and I have been taking life quite quietly for a few days ( the reason for my fall and resultant collision with a brick wall was inevitably associated with my injured leg which happened while I was assisting my daugher to sort out her room. Today I have been feeling dizzy and sometimes have had difficulty focusing, I intend to go to the GP on Monday. Will this symptom disappear. Do I need to see the GP??

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the dizziness and trouble focusing after mild head injury suggest underlying concussion or hematoma changes effects most likely. If subside within a period of 24 hours, it is nothing to bother; but if it persists beyond a period of 48 hours or increase in intensity, it is of much greater clinical significance and need attention at neurosurgeon office.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
