Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a discectomy 2 years ago. After the surgery developed dizziness and vertigo while lying down and looking up. My neuro surgeon says its arthritis. I did have an injection in my neck last month and some of the symptoms have lessoned but do you think that the dizziness is caused from that? My ENT has suggested a hearing test to find out about the vertigo. It does not happen all day, but at times throughout especially if my neck is sore. I sit at a computer and use a headset when answering the phone. Thank you
HI. The most probable reason is cervical spondilytis as you have suspected. The vertebral artery is narrowed or kinked or goes into spasm to cause the problem of vertigo. I would advise you to have an Ateriography of the neck and brain along with MRI of the neck and the brain to find the cause and get a treatment accordingly. You should not drive or be alone as you have a vertigo. This care is also as important as the medical / surgical management.
