Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I know of someone who had two major surgeries as a child and two major surgeries as an adult. Could this contribute as an onset to drug/cocaine addiction? As the person got older, it was revealed that one of the child s parents had a history of drug addiction but was not actively using at this child s conception. Could these factors be a contributing factor for the person s drug addiction? What places a person to become or potentially be at risk to becoming a drug addict?
I don't think having surgeries in childhood and having a parent drug addicted can contribute to cocaine addiction predisposition. There is not a group of predisposition or more at risk for cocaine addiction. These are just justifications.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka,
