Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been prescribed Flonase for chronic sinusitis rhinitis. However I also suffer from dry eyes and take restassis. My eyes seem to feel drier with the Flonase. I m wondering if I really need to continue taking it. The prescription was prompted by a recent respiratory infection. I ve had the sinus problem for 50 years. What do you think?
The decision to stop the Flonase or not really depends on your symptoms. If the Flonase seems to be helping with the rhinitis/sinusitis more than the dryness in your eyes is bothering you, then you could continue it. But it is sounding like it is not helping so much, and it may be making your eyes drier (Flonase can rarely have this side effect). There would be no long-term concerns with stopping the Flonase, so if you feel better being off of it, I would suggest stopping it and letting your doctor know about it the next time you see them.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
