The tenderness in tongue and mouth, altered action of taste buds and canker sores are all due to dry mouth causing inflammation and mucosal atrophy [thinning] which leads to ulceration and inflammation.. The first thing that you need to do is to get the doses of the medications altered as well as get the inhaler medication changes so that the effect of medicine is reduced and condition will improve.. Drink plenty of water.. Use saliva substitutes containing methyl cellulose for lubrication of mouth.. Saliva stimulants like chewing sugar free chewing gums can help.. For canker sores apply a numbing gel containing Lignocaine if there is pain.. Such on ice pops for reducing inflammation and tenderness. Gargle with cold water.. Avoid hot and spicy food..
