Hello,
For your husband got sting from the wasp, good to hear that he has no problem with breathing or chest pain or nausea and vomiting.
Wasp sting are common, especially during the warmer months when people are outside for longer periods of time. They can be uncomfortable, but most people recover quickly and without complications.
A wasp's stinger contains venom( a poisonous substance) thats transmitted to humans during a sting and that venom can cause significant pain and irritation. Its also possible to have a serious reaction if you're allergic to the venom.
For normal local reaction your sting site is develop a raised welt and tiny white mark may be visible in the middle of the welt where the stinger punctured your skin.
Usually, the pain and swelling recedes within several hours of being stung. And large local reactions is a term to describe more pronounced symptoms associated with wasp or bee sting.
Symptoms are extreme redness and swelling that increase for two to three days after the sting. Nausea and vomiting can also occur, but it can be gradually resolve over 5 to 10 days.
Let his doctor know if he has a large local reaction after wasp sting. They may direct him to take antihistamine medication such as cetirizine or Benadryl and high potency topical corticosteroid such as
Fluocinonide 0.05 percent or
clobetasol 0.05 percent ointment apply every 4 hours. Cold compresses are soothing acutely.
The limp should be elevated if the sting is on extremity. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) can reduce pain such Ibuprofen. and
Oral
prednisolone 40mg to 60mg given as a single dose or rapidly tapered over two to five days may help reduce significant swelling and pain.
Talk to his doctor before you take those medicine. If your husband has sign of
anaphylaxis such as severe swelling of the face, lips or throat, hives or itching in the areas of the body not affected by the sting, breathing difficulties, such as wheezing or gasping, dizziness, sudden drop blood pressure,
lightheadedness,
loss of consciousness, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea,
stomach cramps, weak or raising pulse you have to bring him to visit his doctor as soon as possible.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
