What Causes Ear Pain With A Clear Discharge?

Im Danielle. I am 22 , I had an otoplasty almost 5 years ago. I woke up 3 days ago with pain behind my right ear near the scar. There is a little bump kinda feels like it is right under the skin and it has some clear discharge . I am wondering if it could be an internal suture growing out. If so will it come out on its own or should I contact the Dr. who did the otoplasty? !

Hello,

It may be due to acute suppurative otitis media. For that, you may require detailed evaluation by ENT specialist along with complete hemogram, discharge culture followed by antibiotics after ENT consultation. Maintain proper hygiene.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
