What Causes Ear Pain With Crawling Feeling?

I sometimes have sharp pain in left ear and crawling sensation in the ear as well as outside and around the ear. It fills full and sometimes there is also pain above the ear. This occurs on right side but not as often or severe. The sharpe pain is on left side of head and in the ear. Feels like bugs are crawling inside the ear and sometimes on the left side of my face. I did have spinal surgery c3 vertebrae but this was before that. I also get a swooshing sound when I move my head.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have ear pain with crawling feeling which is due to ear wax accumulation, fluid accumulation, ear infection which sometimes remain persistent and leads to recurrent otitis media and ear pain. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis. Doctor may examine by otoscopic means to check level of infection. Doctor may order throat swab test , viral culture test and allergy test to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics such as Levofloxacin at least for 10 days along with decongestant and anti inflammatory medications. You should take green tea daily in the morning, You should do warm saline gargles , take steam twice a day and apply warm dry compresses to external ear .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
