Recently diagnosed with possible subclinical hypothyroidism. Have been taking levothyroxine for approx. 1 month. Have had ringing, dull ache, fullness in right ear and swelling and slight pain in neck for about the same amount of time. Went back to doctor and he said I may have eustachian tube dysfunction brought on by upper respiratory tract infection but have had no symptoms of an upper respiratory tract infection. Wondering if this could be thyroid related or something more serious. Can't tell if the swelling is a lymph node or not. Seems to be on both side but a little more on the right. 34 year-old female 5 feet 5 inches 132 lbs

What Causes Ear Pain With Swollen Throat?

There may possibility of referred otalgia as well, i.e. real disease is some where else but patient feel pain at ear. these are- 1- Caries last molar tooth. 2- Ulcer and growth at base of tongue. 3- Acute tonsillitis. 4- Arthritis of jaw joint. All above listed conditions give rise to pain in ear and may be diagnose by thorough examination and relevent investigations. Regards.
