What Causes Ear Pain?

been sick with sore throat and nasal congestion since sat. went to dr tuesday now im on zpak this morning feeling better, by 2;00 had a severe earache.. still dealing with earache. sounds like im under water feels like draining out of ear ocassionaly wipe with a qtip and is pinkish. what can i do to get rid of earache and pain...

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you have an infection in ear and the symptoms of pain and drainage is due to it..
The feeling of being under water and clogged feeling are due to fluid accumulation behind the eardrum..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like otoscopy, x ray etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can be advised to take a course of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, decongestants like Phenylephrine and nasal decongestant spray containing Xylometazoline.
In case if still it does not resolve surgical drainage of ears can be done..
