Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had ear hardness for a few years now but lately I can t press that little button that goes to the inner ear. It s rock hard and the audible actually sticks out a little bit. Lately I have a lot of earache along with facial nerve pain and inner orbital eye pain only on the side of the bad ear. Right side. My last doctor said there was no wax buildup at all. I had severe sharp pain when he went in the ear though. Sometimes the ear pain is bad when I talk or swallow. Getting very worried!
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of earache along with facial nerve pain which seems to be trigeminal neuralgia which seems to be get aggravated by whistling and touching some areas of face known as trigger points.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit oral physician once and get complete examination done and start treatment accordingly. As such permanent treatment of trigeminal neuralgia is not there. You should go for exercises of facial muscles and start physical therapy. Start with carbamazepine 100 mg twice daily along with Klonopin. Avoid exposure to triggering factors.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get well soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
